Corrections Policy Advocacy

Building a federal response to contraband cell phones.

Illicit wireless devices in correctional facilities can be used to direct violence, trafficking, and victim harassment. Addressing the problem requires a lawful, practical approach that accounts for facility operations and communications networks.

The Parzival Group supported advocacy that brought corrections leaders’ experience to federal policymakers and the FCC as the agency considered a path for limited use of jamming technology in correctional settings.

The FCC opened a rulemaking record on a proposed framework for non-federal jamming solutions in correctional facilities — a significant step toward evaluating an additional tool for facilities confronting contraband-device threats.
